Hamlin Lake Information

Hamlin Lake is nearly 5,000 acres of beautiful water, fed by the Sable River and stretching twelve miles from end to end. About half of its shoreline is forest wilderness and scenic sand dunes; the rest consists of bayous, beaches, breakwall and mini-parks, interspersed with appealing, well-kept resorts, private cottages and homes. A particularly enjoyable feature is the popular Ludington State Park. Here, Hamlin Lake narrows and winds along past the park beach to a picturesque dam. From there it continues on as the Sable River until it empties into Lake Michigan.

Fishing is Great on Hamlin Lake!

Hamlin Lake and its bayous offer an outstanding variety of fish including tiger muskie, northern pike, walleye, large and small mouth bass, perch, crappie and bluegill. Lake Michigan salmon and steelhead are seasonally plentiful at the dam site. Click here for the latest Hamlin Lake Fishing Report. Boat and motor rentals, launch ramps, bait, supplies, food and gas are never too far away.

ice fishing
Our summers are great, but don't miss out on the memorable offers of the other seasons. Many summer activities are also enjoyable in the spring and fall, enhanced by new growth or glorious color. In winter, ice fishermen with their tip-ups and shanties dot the frozen lake, children skate playfully on the bayous, and the state park takes on a new and different appeal. There are marked cross-country ski trails in the park and many other skiing opportunities along our shoreline. Snowmobile trails are just a short distance away. Come, let us introduce you to a wintry Hamlin Lake wonderland.
